This article was written and illustrated for The Cape Creative Collective; a collective with links both in Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa. The CCC was made with the intention of bringing power back to the creatives to encourage a community that evokes change and to drive an appreciation for art, ourselves, and for the world. The CCC's 'Visceral Mag' articles are an extension of this featuring local stories and strategies driven by creativity. 

On Saturday the 2nd of March an event dubbed ‘The Happening’ took place on the vibrant 7th and 4th streets of Melville, Johannesburg. Inspired by this new and curiously creative event; I wrote an article that explored the event's positive effects on community, morale, and pride in one's place of residence. I then illustrated a couple pieces to live alongside this written piece to further bring in the vibrant energy of the festival and its local characters!
